This year, the Virlanie Christmas campaign is themed “bayanihan”, the spirit of mutual aid and community cooperation, deeply rooted in Filipino society.
In the same bayanihan spirit, AccorHotels group shows community cooperation towards the same goal of welfare of children through the long-time partnership with Virlanie. It implemented several activities during this festive season:
October 19 – Twenty-two women of the Open Day Center for Education and Training (ODC-ET) in Quiapo graduated from their baking, cooking, sewing and beauty care trainings. The activities are partly funded by the endowment fund of AccorHotels Group, Solidarity AccorHotels. Among the present on the said graduation ceremony was Nikko Matias, Novotel Manila Araneta Center Talent & Culture Director, who provided an inspirational message to the graduates. October 24 and 30 – Virlanie was invited by Joy Nostalg (AccorHotels group) to Miss Earth’s Down to Earth event, which aims to introduce the ladies to several local eco-friendly efforts. Miss Earth is an international beauty contest aimed at raising awareness about the ecology and protection of the environment. During the event, Virlanie had the chance to promote its new brand of social entrepreneurship: Likhaya. The sales during this event was a real success. The commitment and support of Miss Earth beauties has allowed Likhaya to reach new audiences.
October 28 – After a successful 2017 run, Sofitel Plaza Manila teams organized a second solidarity race in October for Virlanie. Entitled “Wizard Run”, the event gathered athletes of all levels around a friendly race which was themed of Halloween. The Wizard Run was closed with the performance of Virlanie Voices, Virlanie’s Children’s Choir. During this event Sofitel has officially donate the PHP 500 000 collected during the Wizard Run for Virlanie!

November 6 – Virlanie was present during the lighting of the Christmas tree at the Sofitel on November 6th. The children of Virlanie Voices offered a very nice performance with different English and Tagalog Christmas songs. Their performance was kindly thanked by Sofitel with a distribution of gifts for each member of the choir.
November 28 – Joy Nostalg teams also invited the Virlanie Voices during its Christmas Tree Lighting event. The enchanting voices of the choir filled the hotel’s vicinities with warmth and love.
Thank you to the AccorHotels Group and its endowment fund Solidarity AccorHotels for their unwavering support for Virlanie for about 10 years now. This essential partnership greatly contributes to the achievement of Virlanie’s programs for disadvantaged youths and their families. This year, let’s all be together for a bayanihan sa kapaskuhan!
