Last January 2016, The Virlanie Choir received an invitation from the Center for the Prevention & Treatment of Child Sexual Abuse (CPTCSA) to perform at the 20th National Awareness Week for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (also known as CSAAW – Child Sexual Abuse Awareness Week). The advocacy week happened on February 8-13, 2016 with the theme “I AM THE SOLUTION!” The theme engages every individual to create change in their communities to make a meaningful impact on the prevention of sexual violence in children.

The Virlanie Choir readily accepted the invite and performed at the kick-off on the 8th of February with Mayor Herbert Bautista and Director Pacita Sarino of the Department Social Welfare and Development Protective Services Bureau. More than 600 children ages 10 up, teenagers, parents, and officials from National Agencies and Non-Government Organizations were present as well. They performed at the Covered Basketball Court in Quezon City Circle in the afternoon.

The Virlanie Choir normally receives invitations for private and public corporate events, but taking part in CSAAW proved to be very special for the children. Advocating for the protection of children is very close to Virlanie Foundation’s heart, and therefore it was easy to support CPTCSA’s objective to reach concerned agencies and the general public on protecting children from sexual abuse and commercial sexual exploitation. Undoubtedly, it was very special to see the children from the Choir advocate for the protection of all children.

The Virlanie Choir would love to be present in your event, too. For booking inquiries in Manila, please contact choir@virlanie.org.
