August is the month-long celebration of the Filipino language, and this is being observed religiously by schools all over the country.
In Virlanie, the teachers in Magellan Learning Center organized an event to celebrate this. The purpose of the event is to evaluate the values that the children have, as well as the things they have learned in school and at home. The teachers posed a question that the children could answer either by written text or artworks: “Bilang isang batang Pilipino, paano mo maipapakita na ikaw ay isang bayani?” (As a young Filipino, how can you show that you are a hero?) The answers and artworks of the
children were posted in the SiBuHi Sportsroom. The teachers of MLC organized a program as the event’s culminating activity. The children watched videos on nationalism and Filipino culture. They also performed song and dance numbers, while some recited poems in the vernacular.
