Volunteer Information
Volunteer at Virlanie – the Foundation needs you!
There are many opportunities at Virlanie to make a real difference to the lives of street children. What’s more, it’s a real exchange of skills, knowledge and culture, with Filipino staff, overseas and local volunteers working side by side.
Criteria
- More than 18 years old
- A good level in English
- Self-reliant, dynamic, adaptable, goodwill
- Specific abilities are determined according to the volunteer mission
Mission
The length of the volunteer assignment for international volunteers may be either:
- Short-term mission: 3 to 6 months
- Long-term mission: 6 months or more
For Filipino Professionals
Virlanie encourages Filipinos to come and have a rewarding experience volunteering with the children of Virlanie. There are opportunities to volunteer with each and every Virlanie Program Area. The type of volunteer work you undertake is up to you and depends on your particular skills, professional background or areas of interest.
You may like to help children catch up academically in the Magellan Learning Center, help out in one of the 12 residential homes for children or offer your medical, nursing or dentistry expertise, for example.
For Foreign Volunteers
Virlanie’s volunteer program gives foreigners an opportunity to immerse themselves in a new culture and use their skills and compassion to create a brighter future for the hundreds of street children.
Virlanie is not only looking for social workers. You can share your skills in the Foundation if your inclined in the following fields: special education, medicine, nursing, elementary and secondary education, law, marketing and communication, and many others. Don't hesitate to apply whatever your skills and experiences. Have a look at the Current Vacancies list.
We also have a comprehensive Volunteer Guide (in french)– take a look. Practical details (what to put in your bag, what official documents you need, all about finances, living in the Philippines, food, what medicines to take) and essential knowledge about volunteering (length of missions, types of missions) are in it. Read also the Volunteer Charter (in french).
