Virlanie Made my Dreams Come True
Posted on 01/26/2010 in General News & Events
At the age of 16, I was referred to Virlanie after I ran away from home in Iloilo together with my two friends. Since we don’t know where to go when we arrived in Manila, we decided to stay in Luneta Park.

After two months of wandering in the streets of Manila, we were rescued by police officers and they transferred us to the Reception and Action Center. Kuya Dominique, together with the street educator Kuya Boboy, referred our case to Virlanie.
I was so happy because I was freed and had the opportunity to run way again, but then I realized that life in the street was not easy. I stayed in Elizabeth Home, focused seriously on my studies, pursued a college degree and became a nurse.
I finished my Bachelor of Science in Nursing through Virlanie and I am now working as an on-call nurse at a clinic in Manila.
All my dreams were turned into reality because of Virlanie. I’m thankful to Virlanie Foundation for helping me pursue my dreams and I am so lucky for being one of the thousands of street children Virlanie has been helping in the past 17 years. In life you should have willingness and have dreams to pursue. My only advice to the children in the foundation, “Spend your time wisely, study hard and be thankful.”
