Message from the President

Welcome to the website for Virlanie Foundation, Inc.

My staff and I work hard every day to ensure that the children in our care and in the poorest of the poor communities in Manila all receive residential, medical, social, psychological, psychiatric, educational, spiritual, sports and recreational services of the highest quality and above all that they receive love.

We are indebted to the sponsors, the volunteers and the donors who make our work possible, but VFI continues to face many challenges. I appeal to you to explore this site to find out more about us, and to help us put the smiles back on the faces of Manila’s street children.

Warmest wishes,

Dominique Lemay
President and Founder

Welcome

The Virlanie Foundation Inc (VFI) is the largest private non-sectarian child caring institution in Metro Manila, Philippines. It operates 12 residential homes providing shelter, food, education and love to over 1 000 disadvantaged children. It also operates five support programs that cater to their personal development and four further outreach programs that seek to alleviate poverty and fight injustice for children in the community at large. VFI runs a volunteer program and facilitates individual sponsorship from local and foreign benefactors of children both in the VFI homes and in the poorer communities of Manila.

Since its establishment in 1992, VFI has transformed the lives of thousands of children who have been victims of various forms of abuse and exploitation in the street, in jail, from prostitution and syndicates and even from their own families and relatives. With its innovative approach of community reintegration and mainstreaming, as embodied in the family structure of all the homes and its family reunification and outreach programs, VFI achieves its vision of empowered children with hope for a brighter future.

The foundation is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission and is duly licensed and recognized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). It is also a member of the Philippine National Council Against Child Prostitution and of the Working Party On Children’s Rights working with the Department of Justice.
